Catholic Charities Announces 2019 Caritas Award Honorees

Awards Recognizing Commitment to Catholic Charities Mission will be Presented at Celebration of Charity Dinner on Thursday, March 21

Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster is excited to kick-off the New Year with the announcement of the 2019 Caritas award honorees. The awards will be presented at the 13th annual Catholic Charities Celebration of Charity dinner on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor.

Receiving the 2019 Caritas Awards will be:

–           Fr. Salvatore Cordaro, O.F.M., Cap., St. Joseph Church, New Paltz
–           Armistead Mechanical, Inc.
–           Orange County Judicial Diversion Court, Hon. Robert H. Freehill Presiding
–           Sullivan County Judicial Diversion Court, Hon. Stephan G. Schick Presiding
–           Catskill Regional Medical Center Departments of Emergency Medicine
             and Behavioral Health

“Each year, Catholic Charities provides assistance to thousands of individuals and families in need of help and support,” said Dr. Dean Scher, CEO, Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster. “Strong community partners who believe in our mission help make that work possible. We look forward to recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of some of these partners with the presentation of the 2019 Caritas awards,” continued Dr. Scher.

The Caritas Awards are presented by Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster each year to organizations and individuals in the community who exemplify the agency’s mission to provide help and create hope.

“The generous spirit and commitment to collaboration displayed by this year’s honorees is significant to Catholic Charities and those we serve,” said Dr. Scher. “Thanks to their support, we’re able to lend a helping hand so that the neediest in our community enjoy the opportunity for a brighter future. Congratulations to the 2019 Caritas award honorees.”

Catholic Charities Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster plays an integral role in the delivery of care and support in its three-county service area. Programs include a full continuum of support for those suffering from the disease of addiction, as well as prevention programs for youth and adults. Emergency food and shelter assistance, as well as other case management support, is available to those facing issues of homelessness, hunger, and destitution. The 13th annual Celebration of Charity Dinner, featuring the Caritas Awards presentation, will be held Thursday, March 21 at Anthony’s Pier 9. The event starts at 5:30 pm with a social hour and silent auction, followed by a sit-down dinner and awards ceremony. Tickets are $110 per person, or $1000 for a table of 10.
