Catholic Charities Golf for Charity Outing – Tuesday, September 8 at West Hills

Socially-Distanced Event to Raise Funds for COVID Relief and Other Agency Programs

Goshen – Golfers looking for a fun, socially-distanced day of golfing for a cause are invited to attend Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster’s 14th annual Golf for Charity Outing on Tuesday, September 8, at West Hills Country Club. The annual event will raise much-needed funds to support the not-for-profit human service agency’s work in the community, including COVID Relief such as emergency food and shelter assistance. Catholic Charities and West Hills Country Club have been working closely to provide participants with an outstanding day of golf while adhering to the necessary physical distancing and safety requirements.

Golfers will receive a boxed continental breakfast when they check-in starting at 8:30 am. The shotgun will sound at 10 am for the scramble format and a barbecue lunch will be served on the course. The day of golf will feature Healey Brothers’ Hole-in-One Contest, as well as closest-to-the-pin, longest drive, and winning foursomes, for both men and women. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the outing will forgo the evening wrap-up celebration and all prizes will be announced by email the following day.

“The last few months have been long and challenging, and we are all yearning for a little social interaction and return to ‘normal’ in our daily lives,” said Kristin Jensen, Chief Advancement Officer, Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster. “We are grateful to everyone at West Hills for working diligently to prepare an outing that makes our golfers’ health and safety the highest priority, while still providing a fun day to golf for charity and raise much-needed funds for Catholic Charities COVID relief in our community,” said Jensen. “We are grateful for the many sponsors and golfers who will help raise much-needed funds for Catholic Charities programs in the community. The requests for emergency food and shelter assistance are greater than ever.”

A variety of sponsorship opportunities – including tee signs for only $125 – are available, as well as registration for foursomes and individual golfers. The fee per foursome is $800, or $210 for individual golfers. Garnet Health Medical Center, Armistead Mechanical, and Ulster Savings Bank are the first to sign on as 2020 Golf for Charity sponsors.
