Catholic Charities Introduces Bereavement Support Group in Millbrook

Starting July 9, 7pm at Cornell Coop Extension Dutchess County Office

MILLBROOK – Catholic Charities is introducing a bereavement support group for the Dutchess County community. The group, especially for individuals who have lost a loved one to the disease of addiction, will meet at the offices of Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County at 2715 Route 44, Millbrook, starting on Monday, July 9, at 7 pm. Subsequent meetings are scheduled for July 23, August 13 and 27, and September 10 and 24. Additional dates will be announced once the group is underway.

Free and open to the community, the meetings will provide a safe environment for those who have lost a loved one to addiction to share and seek support without stigma or judgment. The group will be facilitated by Joan Cybulski, LMHC, CASAC-G, ICOGS, LPN.

“Unfortunately, not everyone wins their battle with addiction, and we often find that the family members left behind have much to cope with, including grief, guilt, and anger,” said Dr. Dean Scher, CEO, Catholic Charities Community Services. “But there’s no need for loved ones to go it alone. This bereavement support group, led by a highly experienced facilitator, offers an outlet for those who have experienced a loss to talk, share, and be supported along with others who have shared the same experience.”

Registration is not required to attend the support group, but is requested for planning purposes. To register, or for more information, contact Laura Brovich at 845.344.5565. Drop-ins are welcome. Additional meeting dates and locations will continue to be announced.
