Catholic Charities Leads Discussion on Access to Healthcare in Newburgh In Partnership with Orange County and NYS Departments of Health

City of Newburgh residents are invited to attend a listening session on Saturday, September 14 to share their thoughts on health and access to healthcare for those who live in the City. Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster has been tapped to host the listening sessions, in partnership with Orange County Department of Health and New York State Department of Health, as part of a grant to explore minority health disparities in the City of Newburgh.

The fourth in a series of listening sessions coordinated by Catholic Charities, this is an opportunity for residents to express their thoughts regarding healthcare in the community, including the state of residents’ health, what impacts their health, and how residents feel about the availability and access to healthcare in the City of Newburgh. The listening session will be held Saturday, September 14 from 9 am – 2 pm at the Catholic Charities office at 280 Broadway, Newburgh, in the 4th floor conference room.

“Input from City of Newburgh residents is necessary for creating change,” said Hector Morell, Director of Social and Human Services, Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster. “The conversations have been insightful and lively during the first three listening sessions. We are looking forward to continued discussion from residents and the Orange County and NYS Departments of Health so that we may work together to improve healthcare in the Newburgh community,” added Morell.

As a thank you for attendees’ valuable participation, the first 50 people (over the age of 18) to pre-register, and participate, will receive a gift card from Aldi Supermarket. For the convenience of those participating in the listening session, breakfast and lunch will be provided and supervised children’s activities will be available.
