Goshen – Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster’s 6th annual Goshen Christmas House Tour will kick off the holiday season on Saturday, December 5. Not surprisingly, the beloved event will have a 2020 twist. This year’s Tour will be a self-guided driving event featuring the fun and festive outdoor decorations of homes in the greater Goshen area. To date, more than 20 homes have signed on to light up their homes for Catholic Charities.

The 2020 Goshen Christmas House Tour will be a fun outing for the entire family. Tour passes are just $25 per carload when purchased by December 1, and $35 per carload for passes purchased after the deadline and on the day of the event. Each car pass will include a Tour map highlighting the featured homes, as well as activities for children. All proceeds from the Tour will support Catholic Charities’ emergency food and shelter programs, which help the neediest residents of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties keep a roof over their head and food on the table.

“2020 has been a long, difficult year for so many. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that Catholic Charities will be hosting a 2020 variation of the annual Goshen Christmas House Tour,” said Susan Murray-Tetz, Catholic Charities board member and chair of the House Tour committee. “We wanted to do something that was family friendly and preserved the incredible community and Christmas spirit that the Tour generates each year – in a socially-distant and responsible way. The drive-by Tour will be a great way for families to celebrate and people of all ages get into the holiday spirit,” added Ms. Murray-Tetz.

Car passes may be reserved online at www.cccsos.org. For questions, or to reserve by phone, contact Sheila Toohey at 294-5124, ext. 1000, or sheila.toohey@cccsos.org.  Check-in and “day-of” car pass sales for the Christmas House Tour will be open from 3 to 6 pm at Burke Catholic High School, 80 Fletcher St., Goshen. Featured homes will be lit from 5 to 9 pm. In the event of snow, the House Tour will be held Sunday, December 6.

Greater Goshen residents who love to decorate for Christmas and would like to be featured on this year’s Tour, should contact Sheila Toohey for more information. Tour participants will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite home and prizes will be awarded.

“Catholic Charities assists those in need regardless of religion or ability to pay. This year, requests for aid are skyrocketing and resources are being stretched thin,” said Ms. Murray-Tetz. “The Tour raises funds that stay local, to aid the marginalized and vulnerable in our community – and the support is needed now more than ever. We are grateful for the generous homeowners who will be lighting up their homes for charity on December 5 and the many Tour participants who will make it another special day in Goshen.”

A variety of sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available for local businesses and organizations to showcase their commitment to the community and support Catholic Charities’ fundraising efforts to feed and shelter neighbors who are struggling as a result of the pandemic.
