Help a Student in Need Be Successful This School Year – Catholic Charities is Collecting Donations of School Supplies

Goshen, NY – No one wants to rush summer along, but many are already thinking about the quickly approaching start of the school year. For some families, the lengthy list of required school supplies can be a financial burden and put children who aren’t prepared at a disadvantage.

To help children in need start school prepared for success, Catholic Charities is coordinating a back-to-school supply drive. Donations of new school supplies are being collected at Catholic Charities locations in Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties. The items will be distributed to children in need in the non-profit agency’s three-county service area.

School supplies are being sought for students of all ages, from pre-K through high school. Needed items include backpacks, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, colored pencils, notebooks, loose-leaf and computer paper, binders, folders, calculators, glue sticks, scissors, rulers, lunchboxes, tissues, wipes, and hand sanitizer.

“Being equipped with the right supplies makes it easier for students to achieve success in school,” said Kristin Jensen, Chief Advancement Officer, Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster. “A new backpack or fresh supplies can make a world of difference for a student who might otherwise go without. We are grateful for those who give generously to our school supply drive each year so that students can enhance their opportunities to succeed.”

School supply donations may be dropped off at the following Catholic Charities locations:
– Goshen – 27 Matthews Street
– Newburgh – 280 Broadway, 4th floor
– Port Jervis – 17 Sussex Street
– Monticello – 19 Hamilton Avenue
– Kingston – 6 Adams Street
