Registration Open for Charity Ride with the Camels – Orange County Country Roads Tour Sunday, September 16

Bike Tour Fundraiser Benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters, Catholic Charities, and Sanctuary for Animals

Goshen – Calling all cyclists to Ride with the Camels on Sunday, September 16! The Orange County Bicycle Club’s annual Country Roads Bike Tour – featuring The Sanctuary for Animals’ famous camels – will be held Sunday, September 16. The charity bike tour, beginning and ending at Warwick Town Park, will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster, and The Sanctuary for Animals.

Country Roads offers cyclists four route options – approximately 10, 25, 45, or 65 miles each. Participants may ride at their own pace following marked and signed roads with accompanying cue sheets, or ride in a group led by an experienced Orange County Bicycle Club member. The cost is $35 per adult rider for pre-registration, which includes a commemorative Tour gift, and $10 for children under age 12. The cost for “day of event” registration is $40 per adult and $15 per child under 12 (gift not included for “day of” registrations). Online registration is open on the Orange County Bicycle Club’s website at www.ocbicycleclub.org/country-roads-bicycle-tour. The Tour is a rain or shine event; refunds will not be provided.

Tour day registration and check-in will open at 7:30 am. Recommended departure times are 8 am for the 65-mile route, 8:30 am for the 45-mile route, 10 am for the 25-mile route, and 10:30 am for the 10-mile route.

Registered riders will enjoy well-marked routes and detailed cue sheets. SAG support will be available to assist riders as needed. Rest stops placed at reasonable intervals along each of the routes will include snacks, beverages, and bathroom facilities. Lunch and live music will be provided at Warwick Town Park following the ride.

“Catholic Charities is delighted to co-host the Country Roads Tour again this year with our friends at the Orange County Bicycle Club,” said Dr. Dean Scher, CEO, Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster. “This is a great partnership and we greatly appreciate the generous support of the Club and its members. Each year, hundreds of cyclists ride through our beautiful countryside to raise much-needed funds for three community organizations that provide assistance to our neighbors in need,” added Dr. Scher.

The portion of the proceeds received by Catholic Charities will be used to support the agency’s social safety net programs, which include emergency food and shelter assistance, in Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties.
