Catholic Charities of Orange & Sullivan and SALT (Sullivan Agencies Leading Together) Collaboration Receive Vehicle Donation from Rolling V Bus Corp.

Van to be used for delivery of furniture and household item donations to those in need

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY – The pick-up of donated furniture and household items and delivery to those in need just got easier in Sullivan County thanks to a generous donation from Rolling V Bus Corporation. The family-owned and managed full-service transportation company donated a 2005 Ford Suburban to the collaboration of Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange and Sullivan and SALT (Sullivan Agencies Leading Together).

Rolling V staff presented representatives from Catholic Charities and SALT with the keys to the vehicle at the company’s South Fallsburg location. The vehicle will be used by Catholic Charities staff and SALT volunteers to transport donations of gently-used furniture and household items for delivery to families and individuals in Sullivan County who are struggling to make ends meet.

“As a family business with more than 25 years in Sullivan County, Rolling V has a strong tradition of giving back to the community in which we live and work,” said Phil Vallone, President of Rolling V Bus Corporation. “Organizations like Catholic Charities and SALT that share this commitment are important partners in improving and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Sullivan County. We are delighted that this retired Rolling V vehicle will have new life helping to make a significant difference in the lives of those in need,” continued Vallone.

Through its Resource Exchange program, Catholic Charities accepts donations of gently-used furniture, such as dressers, kitchen tables, and chairs, as well as household items, including tableware, utensils, pots, pans, and glassware, and passes them along free of charge to individuals and families who are without such basic necessities of life. Catholic Charities, with support from SALT volunteers, will use the vehicle to pick up and deliver the donations.

“We are thrilled to receive this extremely generous donation from Rolling V,” said Martin Colavito, Director of Prevention Services for Catholic Charities and Co-Chair of the SALT Board of Directors. “Phil and his Rolling V team are great community partners who truly step up to the plate to help others. Access to this vehicle will allow us to expand the donations we receive and distribute to those who are living without things most of us take for granted,” Colavito added.
